Headteacher's Message

Today we have celebrated the official opening of Garden Village Primary Academy. It was a wonderful morning of appreciation and gratitude for everyone who contributed to the planning, construction and resourcing of the school. The stars of the ceremony were the children; they shone so bright when they sang and through their personal messages of thanks to the visitors.

We have now completed the first half-term of Autumn. In seven weeks, so much has been archived by the children: making new friends, growing in knowledge/skills and blossoming in confidence and independence. We are so proud of every child, and we are very much looking forward to Autumn Term Two.

Our attendance continues to be great, 97.8%!

Wishing you all a wonderful half-term break. Please remember, school is closed on Monday 4th November. We look forward to welcoming the children back on Tuesday 5th November.

Drawing Club

Last week, it was National Recycling Week and the focus text for Drawing Club was ‘Somebody Swallowed Stanley’. The text inspired our children to think about recycling and looking after the environment.

Here is a link for the children to listen to and watch the story again: Tom Hardy - Somebody Swallowed Stanley - CBeebies (bbc.co.uk)

This week we used the story Goldilocks and the Three Bears to inspire our writing. Miss Matthews is delighted with how we are orally segmenting our words before we write.

Expressive Arts and Design

In National Recycling week, we used recycled materials to design and make some wonderful pieces, including cars, rockets and even the Titanic!

Little Wandle - Phonics and Reading

Our daily phonic and reading lessons have continued to progress at pace! Every day, more children are blending sounds to read words and our fluency in reading the decodable and tricky words is great!

Maths

Thank you to the parents who attended the early mathematics workshop.

In maths, we have been learning 'It’s me 1, 2, 3' using the vocabulary: how many altogether, count, how many different ways can you make? 1 more and 1 less. Miss Matthews said that we are amazing at this!

Understanding the World

With Mrs Guild, we worked with a friend to talk about our journey to school. We drew a map to record this journey, labelling and describing the things that we see in our local environment. The maps were incredible!

Assembly Time with the Elim Church

On Thursday, we were delighted to have Bev come to lead an assembly about 'kindness'. With the help of two incredible actors, Bev told us the story about the Good Samaritan.

Macmillan

I am delighted to announce that we raised £133.80 at our Macmillan coffee morning. Thank you again for supporting this event.

Family Lunch

Thank you so much for joining us at our first Family Lunch. It meant so much to the children, they were talking about it all afternoon. It was incredible to have an adult for every child too - thank you.
