Headteacher's Message

I am delighted to inform you that there are now only twenty-three days until Garden Village Primary Academy is officially signed over to the Fierte Mutli-Academy Trust. The building work, curriculum planning and home visits are going exceptionally well.

Home Visits

Mrs Hand and I have had a wonderful time completing the home visits, meeting the new Reception children again, their families and pets too! It is a privilege to see the children's happy faces when we give them their GVPA starting school packs. Thank you to everyone for the positive feedback and email of thanks for the uniform, starting school information and photographs. Miss Matthews is really looking forward to reading her letters! We are looking forward to meeting the final families next week.

Progress on the School Building

Last Wednesday, we visited the school site and were delighted with the building progress, especially the internal furnishings. Upstairs, the carpets are laid, and the interior furnishings are in place. Mrs Hand is very happy with her new office!

School Dinners

We are working closely with Mrs Smith (Fierte Trust Catering Leader) and Mr Byrne (Trust Technical Manager) to create your child's account on the new Management Information System - Arbor. Before September, you will be emailed a link to access the system so that you can view the school dinner menu for the Autumn Term.

Class Names

Thank you to everyone who voted for the theme for the class names. The theme for the class names at GVPA will be.... trees! Trees won the majority of votes 11:8 over birds of prey. The next step is to design the classroom signs. We are going to name each class after a tree, e.g. Year Six - Oak. If there are any artists who would like to support the design process, please do contact me.

Staffing

We have now successfully appointed a teaching assistant to work with Miss Matthews in the Reception classroom. Mrs Guild is a highly experienced early years practitioner and will join GVPA in September.

We have also appointed Mrs Smith, who will keep our new school clean. Mrs Smith will work at GVPA every morning and I know she is very excited to meet everybody.

GVPA Community Open Evening – 28^th August

On Wednesday 28^th August, we are going to open the school between 3pm-7pm for members of the local community to visit GVPA. Further details are to follow.
