The most important thing is to make time to listen to your child and have conversations with them about everyday things such as a visit to the supermarket or a walk to the park.  During these conversations point out what you see, hear, smell and touch using all your senses.  Get your child to join in and this will help build their art of conversation and vocabulary.  Play games such as I spy on your travels too!

Reading is key to all learning and pupils who read regularly make better progress.  Make time to read daily with your child. Use the reading book your child brings home from school.  

Family Action, in partnership with the National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT) have jointly created 10 leaflets aimed at School children to aid them in their everyday learning and home lives.  You can access each of the leaflets below:
