Leadership Team

  • Sonia Burke

    Headteacher

    Sonia Burke is the Headteacher at Garden Village Primary Academy and has worked in Education since 1999. Sonia has a wealth of teaching experience across the whole primary phase from Early Years to Year 6 and has been active Senior Leader in a school for many years. Throughout her career, Sonia has been the English leader, leading the teaching and learning of high-quality synthetic phonics, reading and writing, including the associated statutory assessments. In more recent years, Sonia gained the National Award for Special Education Needs and, in her role of the school SENCO and Senior Mental Health Leader, has established an inclusive learning environment for all children. Sonia is a highly passionate leader who wholeheartedly believes in the Garden Village Primary Academy vision: Soaring to Excellence.

Support Staff

  • Lisa Hand

    Office Manager

    Mrs Hand started to work for the Fierté Multi-Academy Trust as an Office Manager in January 2023. She has a range of experience of working with young children and operating a functional school office. Mrs Hand is kind and caring and will be available to help you and answer questions that you may have.

Reception Staff

  • Millie Matthews

    Teacher

    Millie Matthews is the Reception class teacher at Garden Village Primary Academy and has taught in an Early Years provision since 2021. Miss Matthews has successfully completed a range of EYFS professional development courses and is a highly respected Early Years practitioner in the Fierté Multi-Academy Trust. When teaching, Millie strives to create and foster a sense of belonging, self-worth, independence and self-belief. She has consistently high expectations for all children and believes that there are no limits to what each child can accomplish.

  • Hannah Guild

    Teaching Assistant

    Mrs Hannah Guild is an experienced Early Years Teaching Assistant. Hannah’s passion for EYFS shines through in her vision to provide every child with the best foundations for their school journey; watching and supporting them to make progress, academically and emotionally. Hannah takes pride in resourcing the classroom environments, both indoor and outdoor, providing the children with exciting, welcoming and engaging provisions.
